Speed Stars Starts with a Hoot

Speed Stars is serious stuff, just ask SA comedy heavyweights, David Levinsohn and Jason Goliath! The joking stopped the moment they put their helmets on and took to the track in our first celebrity pairing for Season 2.

Brought to you by Michelin, Speed Stars brings you the biggest names in the world of media, sport and entertainment and sees them going head to head on the racetrack to see who really can drive!

Season 1 saw former international referee, Jonathan Kaplan, take top honours as SA’s speediest star, beating the likes of 5fm’s Rob Forbes, former Springbok captain, John Smit, TV presenter Lalla Hirayama, musician Jack Parow and former Miss South Africa, Melinda Bam, to name a few.

SAFETY FIRST FOR OUR SPEEDY STARS

For Michelin & Speed Stars it’s not only about going fast! Road and tyre safety form an important part of the show, with dedicated safety lessons in each episode educating guests and viewers alike.

Before being unleashed on the race track to set their fastest lap times, our guests are given professional training from our team of driving instructors, headed up by 2 legends of SA motor racing, Mike Briggs and Tschops Siphuka

AND THE WINNER IS…

Both are quick at delivering the one-liners but who will be quickest on the racing line in this David vs Goliath match-up?

Make your prediction in our weekly viewer competition and you could win an Advanced Driving course with Opel. At the end of the season, the winner of our grand prize in the Predict the Winner competition will be joining the winner of Speed Stars on an international driving experience with Michelin!

Traditionally held at a world famous Formula One circuit like Sepang in Malaysia, the Michelin Pilot Sport Experience will see our winners take to the track in a variety of racing cars for a taste of what it’s like to be a racing driver for a day!

You can enter on the Speed Stars website: www.speedstars.co.za

But your chances of winning don’t end there, as both Opel and Independent Media will be running their own Predict the Winner competition. So keep a look out for details on the Opel social media pages – opelsa – and in the motoring supplements of The Star, Pretoria News, Daily News, The Mercury and Cape Times.
