A man, believed to be in his late 40s, was left in a critical condition this morning after he was knocked off his motorcycle at the Craib and Koppie Alleen Avenue intersection in Welkom.
ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene to find a man lying in the middle of the intersection a few feet away from his wrecked motorbike.
Paramedics immediately assessed the man and found that he had sustained numerous injuries, leaving him in a critical condition.
The patient was immediately treated for his injuries and provided with numerous advanced life support intervention in an effort to stabilise his vital signs.
Once treated, the patient was transported to Mediclinic Welkom for urgent treatment.
The driver of the light motor vehicle was assessed and found to have escaped injury.
It is believed that the driver of the light motor vehicle had failed to notice the oncoming motorcycle at the intersection.
Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
