One man has been killed and another injured this morning after a three vehicle collision on the R21 near the Nellmapius turn-off in Centiruon.
ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene and found the highway congested with heavy traffic. A large truck and bakkie were found on the side of the road while a light motor vehicle was found in the middle isle.
The bakkie was found to have sustained a large amount of damage, after the truck had overturned, crushing the bakkie beneath it.
Upon assessment, paramedics found the body of a man lying trapped inside of the bakkie. Unfortunately, the man had already succumbed to his multiple, fatal injuries. Nothing could be done for him and he was declared dead on the scene.
The driver of the truck was assessed by paramedics and found to have sustained only moderate injuries. He was treated and thereafter transported to a private hospital for further care.
The cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities will be investigating further.
