A search and rescue operation is currently under way, north of Durban at Virginia pier, where a man is missing and sadly presumed to have drowned.
Emergency Services from the Department of Health’s Emergency Medical Services and Police Search and Rescue responded to the pier in the early hours of this morning, following a report that a man had been washed off the pier by a wave.
When emergency services arrived on scene, there was no sign of the man and SAPS Search and Rescue officers have started searching for the man. They are currently still at the scene searching for the man.
Family members of the man have gathered at the scene and have assisted officials with details to help identify him.
