One man was killed and three others injured early this morning after a light motor vehicle and truck collided at the Malibongwe and South Africa Road intersection in Cosmos City, North of Johannesburg.
ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene and found the vehicles on the side of the road. The light motor vehicle had sustained a large amount of damage in the collision.
On further inspection, paramedics found four patients lying outside of the light motor vehicle.
One of the patients, a man, was found lying motionless a short distance away. Unfortunately , the man had already succumbed to his multiple, fatal injuries. Nothing more could be done for the man and he was declared dead on the scene.
Three other patients, a woman and two men, were also assessed and found to have sustained injuries ranging from moderate to serious.
Paramedics treated the patients and provided them with advanced life support interventions. Once treated, the patients were transported to nearby Provincial hospitals for further treatment.
the driver of the truck was assessed and found to have escaped injury.
The cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations .
