Man critically injured after falling out of tree

At 01h15 on Sunday morning Netcare 911 paramedics responded to a camping area at the Bronkhorstspruit Dam for a person that fell from a height. Reports from the scene indicate that the thirty-four-year-old man climbed up a tree to look for firewood when he slipped and fell seven metres to the ground.

Paramedics arrived at the scene and found the man lying on the ground with severe spinal injuries. Due to the severity of the man’s injury the Netcare 1 medical helicopter was activated to assist the ground crews with stabilising the injured man.

After the patient was stabilised, they immobilised him on a trauma board before he was airlifted to a specialised hospital for the care that he required.
