Six suspects arrested for business robbery, Extension 3, Alabama near Klerksdorp

North West: Yesterday, 22 February 2017, police in Klerksdorp arrested six suspects, aged between 21 and 30, for a business robbery committed at Extension 3, Alabama near Klerksdorp.

It is alleged that the business owner, his wife and employees were inside the shop when two suspects entered. According to information, one of them pretended to be buying cigarettes while the other remained at the door. He allegedly closed the security door, ordered everybody to lie down and pointed the owner with a firearm. Allegedly, five other suspects armed with firearms and a knife entered the shop. They allegedly ransacked the shop and left the scene with undisclosed amount of cash, cigarettes and five cell phones.

Following a tip-off and swift reaction, the police arrested the suspects in the bushes near Manzilpark cemetery where they hid. Upon arrest, they were found in possession of three firearms, a knife, cigarettes and cell phones.

All five suspects will appear in the Klerksdorp Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 24 February 2017.
