Eastern Cape: Several successful operations were conducted over the past weekend which resulted in the arrest of 159 suspects for various crimes in the Uitenhage Cluster.
The suspects were arrested on charges such as rape, assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm, theft out of the motor vehicle, housebreaking and theft, theft and the possession of suspected stolen goods. A multi-disciplinary roadblock was conducted on Friday, 24 February 2017 on the R75, outside Uitenhage and a total of 174 vehicles were stopped and searched. 13 Fines were issued to the value of R6 850.
The reduction of crime in the Uitenhage Cluster will remain a priority.
