North West: Today, 22 March 2017, four suspects aged between 29 and 37 are expected to appear in the Potchefstroom Magistrates’ Court for possession of drugs.
The suspects’ court appearance stems from their arrest on Monday, 20 March 2017 at approximately 19:30 along N12 between Potchefstroom and Johannesburg by members of Flying Squad in Potchefstroom.
The members were patrolling when they saw a stationary red Toyota Corolla along the road. The occupants, a driver and three passengers, were approached and eventually searched together with the vehicle. During the search, two suitcases and one bag were found inside the vehicle’s boot. It is alleged that one of the passengers was instructed to open the suitcases as well as the bag. Upon opening them, it was discovered that the suitcases contained dagga weighing 6.9 kilogrammes while the bag had 2025 mandrax tablets worth an estimated R162 000-00 in street value.
