Five suspects, aged between 28 – 41 years, were arrested in Mthatha yesterday, 16 May 2017 at about 21h45. It is alleged that the suspects committed an armed robbery and demanded liquor and cigarettes at a tavern at Lindile locality at about 20h45. Due to a quick response by SAPS, the suspects were arrested and they confiscated three firearms with ammunition and police uniform (bunny jacket and pepper spray).
The suspects will appear in the Mthatha Magistrate Court on charges of armed robbery and illegal possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
