Lamb and Mutton SA Kitchen a juicy feature at Fire & Feast Butcher’s Festival, presented by Crown National

No braai is ever truly complete without the presence of juicy lamb ribs or tender mutton chop. Healthy, cost-effective and highly nutritious, there is a reason why lamb and mutton often find their way onto the dinner tables of meat-loving South Africans.

In celebration of this fact, Lamb and Mutton South Africa has signed up as a sponsor of the Lamb and Mutton SA Kitchen Theatre at the upcoming Fire & Feast Butcher’s Festival, presented by Crown National; a showcase of the very best cuts of meat on offer and how to purchase, prepare and serve them.

Lamb and Mutton South Africa, which has the support of the entire South African red meat industry, is responsible for consumer education on lamb and mutton meat, to ensure its full potential is realised by all consumers.

The Fire & Feast Butcher’s Festival, presented by Crown National, will take place from 26 to 28 May 2017 at the Ticketpro Dome and will provide visitors with the opportunity to meet some of the country’s most highly acclaimed butchers and leading food experts. The National Butchers’ Challenge, SA Free Flame Championships, Castle Tank beer, The Braai and Beer Garden and of course the Lamb and Mutton SA Kitchen are some of the not-to-be-missed features of this sizzling show.

“The Lamb and Mutton SA Kitchen will be an experiential and interactive zone where these delicious proteins will truly be the stars of the show. From tender lamb shanks to a delectable slow roasted leg of lamb, the preparation of various lamb and mutton inspired dishes will be demonstrated by a number of South Africa’s top chefs,” said Lamb and Mutton SA Project Manager, Marina Bester.

Visitors sampling tender cuts at The Lamb and Mutton SA Kitchen will also be getting the added advantage of a much-needed iron boost. The amount of iron in a diet is often far too low, a fact brought to light by the recent Iron Awareness Week which was celebrated in the first week of May. This essential mineral is readily available in all lamb and mutton products, further proving the need for audiences to visit this spectacular feature.

“The festival, which is a long overdue celebration of the meat industry and associated products will bring together the expertise of butchers, braai-masters and more than 80 exhibitors, varying from associated regulators, food, beverage and lifestyle brands. Lamb and Mutton SA completes this impressive line-up and we are proud to have them on board as both a sponsor and representative for two of South Africa’s most-loved meat products,” said Paul Edmunds, Sponsorship and Content Manager at Reed Exhibitions.

Dawid Muller, Commercial Executive of Crown National, said sponsoring the festival was an ‘organic’ choice.

“As a trusted supplier of spices, food ingredients and equipment to the South African meat industry, meat is at the heart of what we do at Crown National,” said Muller. “The festival presents the perfect platform to educate all meat lovers; providing a better understanding of the meat industry, highlighting the effort and technology that goes into quality meat products and how our expertise touch consumers’ lives on a daily basis.”
