Five suspects arrested for business robbery in Upington

On Tuesday, 23 May 2017 at about 18:30, a bottle store in Upington Central Business District was robbed. Five men allegedly entered the premises with firearms and tied the hands and feet of the cashier and a co-worker with ropes. The suspects fled with money and cigarettes. The victims later managed to untie their hands and contact the police.

A manhunt was immediately activated and five suspects were arrested on Wednesday, 24 May 2017 at about 02:00 am, by the Witdraai SAPS. The police recovered four firearms, alcohol and a substantial amount of cash. Police also confiscated the green BMW the suspects were travelling in, as it was allegedly utilised in the commission of a crime.
