A woman, believed to be in her 70s, was killed this afternoon when she was hit by a bakkie at the School and Old Main Road intersection in Amanzimtoti, KwaZulu-Natal.
ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found the bakkie lying on its side against a residence.
Upon closer inspection, paramedics discovered the body of an elderly woman lying some distance away from the bakkie.
Assessment showed that the woman had sustained numerous injuries and showed no signs of life. Unfortunately, nothing could be done for the woman and she was declared dead.
The driver of the vehicle was apparently not found on the scene.
It is understood that the driver lost control of the bakkie, causing it to roll into the elderly woman.
Local authorities were on scene to conduct an investigation into this incident.
