Five passengers in a minibus taxi & a driver of a light motor vehicle were injured in a collision on Flanders Drive – Mt Edgecombe this afternoon (Thursday).
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa responded to the scene & found a female in a critical condition on the drivers seat of a white Ford Figo. The female sustained serious head injury & was stabilized on scene by paramedics & transported to Umhlanga Hospital. Five passengers in the Taxi were treated for minor injuries & were also taken to hospital.
According to witnesses, the taxi had overtaken several vehicles at high speed, drove onto the oncoming lane & collided with the Ford Figo.
The taxi driver was not injured.
