At approximately 20:16 last night members of Reaction Unit South Africa were dispatched to Inanda Road near the Mountview turn off in Verulam after receiving reports of a vehicle on fire.
On arrival a Nissan X Trail was found engulfed in flames. The Ethekwini Fire & Rescue Services were called to the scene and the fire was extinguished upon their arrival. No one was injured in the fire.
According to the driver he had purchased the vehicle two weeks ago. While travelling on Inanda Road yesterday the vehicle experienced a mechanical fault. The driver pulled off to the side of the road to investigate when the Nissan X Trail caught alight.
The cause of the fire has not been established however the vehicle was extensively damaged.
