Deputy Minister of Transport Ms Sindisiwe Chikunga to visit River of Mercy Ministries in Katlehong

Gauteng-The Deputy Minister of Transport, Ms Sindisiwe Chikunga, will visit the River of Mercy Ministries in Katlehong  to address members  of the church  on the significance and benefits of the Administrative Adjudication of Road Traffic Offences (AARTO) process on Sunday, 22 October 2017.

The Road Traffic Infringement Agency (RTIA) which is an entity of the Department of Transport, exists through the AARTO Act to influence positive driver behaviour in our roads.

RTIA works with the Interfaith movements to ensure that messages on road safety are spread throughout the country.

Congregants will be provided with information on the benefits of the AARTO process.

RTIA renders mobile customer information services under the: “Know your Traffic Fine Status” campaign aimed at reaching out to road users and remind them to check the status of their traffic fines under the AARTO Act.

In addition, the Deputy Minister will inform the church members on the significance of the use of the child restraint seats while carrying children in their vehicles.

Recent Easter holidays road crashes statistics indicate that the passenger fatalities constituted 50% of deaths on our roads over that particular period. Among the passengers who died were children transported by parents who failed to place them in child restraints.
