Man hospitalised after non-fatal drowning

A man, believed to be in his 60s, was hospitalised after a non-fatal drowning at the Wilderness Beach in Wilderness outside of George, Western Cape.

ER24 paramedics, along with Metro Services, arrived on the scene to find the man being treated by the NSRI and Fire Services.
Paramedics assessed the man and found that he was suffering from mild hypothermia.

The man was treated and thereafter transported to Mediclinic George for further treatment.

It is understood that the man had experienced difficulties whilst swimming when he was rescued by the NSRI.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
