At approximately 12:15 on Thursday, Marshall Security were alerted to a house robbery which had occurred in Edgley Road, in the suburb of Park Hill, north of Durban.
Reports from the scene suggest that three suspects forced the driveway gates open to the premises, before storming the home.
The homeowner who was present at the time, an elderly gentleman, was assaulted by an armed suspect, before being held at gunpoint whilst the men ransacked his home making off with a flat-screen television and other undisclosed items.
The men fled the scene in an awaiting getaway vehicle.
Crisis Medical Paramedics assessed the victim on site, however, he declined further hospital treatment.
The scene was secured and handed over to the South African Police Services for further investigation and processing.
