Pedestrian Killed on the R102 at Verulam, KwaZulu Natal

A pedestrian had been killed after he was run over on the southbound lane of the R102 near Ottawa a short while ago.

At approximately 17:10 members of Reaction Unit South Africa was called out to the scene after receiving multiple calls from motorists reporting the incident. Upon arrival paramedics found the pedestrian lying in the centre median. He was fatally injured in the accident and died at the scene.

It is alleged that the pedestrian attempted to run across the road when he was run over. The Toyota Tazz spun out of control and also landed in the centre median. The deceased has not been identified at this stage. Traffic delays are expected for motorists traveling on that particular stretch of road.

The driver of the Toyota Tazz was not injured.
