Truck rear-ends bakkie leaving man seriously injured on the R59 in Blockhouse, between Alberton and Meyerton.

A man was left seriously injured this afternoon when a truck rear-ended a bakkie on the R59 in Blockhouse, between Alberton and Meyerton.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene to find the truck and bakkie on the side of the road. It was evident that the bakkie had rolled several times after it was rear-ended.

Paramedics found the driver of the bakkie walking around on the scene. Assessments showed that the man had sustained serious injuries to his chest, leaving him in a serious condition.

Paramedics treated the man and provided him with pain-relief medication before he was transported to Kopanong Provincial Hospital for further treatment.

The driver of the truck was assessed and found to have escaped injury.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
