Seven Suspects Attack Farmhouse in Verulam, KZN

Seven (7) armed suspects accosted a 33-year-old Mozambican National who was working at a home in Redcliffe – Verulam at approx 10:43 this morning. His employer, a 65-year-old woman who just arrived home was then forced into a shed at gunpoint.

Members of Reaction Unit South Africa arrived on scene to find the Mozambican employee gagged (picture 1) with tape and foil. He was found approx 1km from the scene. Paramedics removed the tape & treated the man who was sobbing uncontrollably. He eventually informed Reaction Officers that he was held up by the seven suspects who threatened to kill him. His eyes and mouth were taped shut & he was dumped at the rear of the house.

The homeowner arrived at the premises whilst the crime was in progress and she was held up by six of the suspects. She was forced to hand over car keys & was informed by the suspects that she was going to be killed. Several valuables were stolen & the suspects fled when my noticed that the male victim had escaped to sought assistance.

This home has been previously attacked by suspects who attempted to burn the residence while a female was inside the premises.
