Imbokodo Armed Forces Parade held in Durban

The Women’s Month celebrations came to an end on a high note this week, with hundreds of women in law enforcement services taking to the streets of Durban for Imbokodo Armed Forces Parade at the weekend.

The all women parade, which was aimed at showcasing skills and capabilities of women who operate in a previously male dominated field, comprised of members of the Road Traffic Inspectorate (RTI), South African National Defense Force (SANDF), South African Police Service (SAPS)‚ Department of Correctional Services‚ eThekwini Fire Department and Metro Police.

The parade started from Dr Pixley KaSeme Street and finished at the City Hall, where the eThekwini Mayor Cllr. Zandile Gumede addressed the audience.

“I would like to applaud all our women who continue to make their mark in the law enforcement fraternity. Their capabilities are noteworthy and their hard work is greatly appreciated. We are proud of what they have achieved over the years,” said Gumede.

In support of the initiative, the women’s parade was also joined by the KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport‚ Community Safety and Liaison Mxolisi Kaunda who marched with the women as well as learners from various schools to raise awareness against women and child abuse.
