Foreign missionaries injured in a collision on the R102 in Verulam

Four people including two children aged 16 & 24 months sustained minor injuries following a collision on the R102 at the Canelands intersection in Verulam.

RUSA Operations Centre in Verulam received multiple calls from passing motorists reporting the incident involving three vehicles. Reaction Officers & Medics were dispatched to the scene and upon arrival found a Volvo V50, Toyota Corolla and a Toyota Hino truck and trailer were involved in the collision.

The occupants of the Volvo V50 which included two women and their children are from the state of Alabama in the USA & London in the United Kingdom. They are currently conducting missionary work in South Africa. Both women and children sustained minor injuries in the collision and were transported to hospital by ambulance.

It is alleged that the Volvo V50 was turning into Vincent Dickenson Road from the R102 when it collided with the Toyota Corolla that was travelling from Verulam towards Tongaat. The Volvo V50 then spun and collided into the Toyota Hino truck that was stationary at the robots.

The occupants from the Toyota Corolla and the Toyota Hino truck were not injured.
