Cow killed in a accident near King Shaka International

A cow was killed after it was run over by two vehicles on the north bound lane of the R102 a short distance away from King Shaka International Airport in KZN.

At approximately 04:49 members of Reaction Unit South Africa were called out to the scene by passing motorists requesting assistance for the occupants of two vehicles who had knocked into the cow.

Upon arrival it was established that the driver of a Nissan NP 200 bakkie was travelling towards the airport when it knocked into the cow that was crossing the road. The driver sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Osindisweni Hospital by the Provincial Ambulance Service.

Two occupants of a VW Polo who were also traveling to the airport then knocked into the cow that was lying in the middle of the roadway. The vehicle overturned multiple times before it landed in the center median. Both occupants of the VW Polo sustained moderate injuries and were transported to Entabeni Hospital.

The cow died at the scene. Both vehicles were extensively damaged in the accident.
