Theft suspect arrested in Ottawa

A suspect was arrested by members of Reaction Unit South Africa after he had stolen building material from a property on Old Main Road in Ottawa.

Reaction Officers were dispatched to an attorney’s office after receiving a call from a female reporting the theft in progress. Upon arrival Officers were provided with a description of the suspect. The victim also pointed out that the suspect had fled on the railway line behind the property.

RUSA Officer Wesley Thompson pursued the suspect who fled into a bush as the Officer caught up to him. Thompson followed and apprehended him in the bush. The stolen goods were also recovered.

The 21 year old Waterloo – Verulam resident claimed that he was a drug user and the stolen good were to be sold at a local scrap metal dealer. The proceeds of the sale were to be used to purchase heroin.

The suspect was placed under arrest and handed to Police for further investigation.
