SAPS hosts Christmas party for children of deceased members

The South African Police Service (SAPS) hosted a family day in the form of a Christmas party for 45 children of members who died in the line of duty in the 2017/2018 and 2018/2019 financial year, at the SAPS Tshwane Academy in Pretoria.
Family, friends and guardians of the children also formed part of the festivities of the day.
The purpose of the event was to provide, a memorable Christmas party for the children in honour of the moms and dads in blue, who died in the line of duty to ensure the safety and security of the people in South Africa.
Activities of the day included a host of fun and games. While some played on the jumping castle, others lined-up to get their faces painted by our men and women in blue.
The children who couldn’t contain their happiness were also treated to a Christmas lunch.
Thirty-six-year-old Petronella Hlongwane was among the widows who formed part of the festivities. Petronella expressed her gratitude to the management of the SAPS for organising the event in memory of her late husband, Constable Simon Hlongwane.
“My children are so happy to be here, I am equally elated and thankful that the organisation that my husband served has not forgotten about me and my children. I would like to thank the management for this wonderful Christmas Party”.
Forty-four-year-old Denise Naidoo shared the same sentiments. She is the widow of the late Warrant Officer, Sascha Naidoo. Denise was accompanied by her four children.
“This is a relaxing day for us as a family. We are happy to see that the sacrifices that my husband made to serve his country were not in vain. Thank you to the organisation and management for this special day”.
