59 Year old shot multiple times during a robbery in Tongaat

A 59 year old man was seriously injured after he was shot multiple times during a business robbery on Arbee Drive in Tongaat.

At approximately 19:16 on Monday the Reaction Unit South Africa Tongaat Operations Centre received multiple calls from the public reporting shots being fired at a general dealer. Reaction Officers and Medics were dispatched to the store and upon arrival found the elderly man bleeding excessively from gunshot wounds to his chest, face and arm. Medics stabilised him on scene before transporting him to hospital in a serious condition.

It is alleged that the victim manages the business for an Ethopian national. A lone gunman entered the store this afternoon and drew a firearm demanding cash. The victim allegedly resisted and the suspect then fired multiple shots at him. The suspect stole an undisclosed amount of cash before he fled the scene in an unknown direction.

Reaction Officers are currently searching for the gunman.
