Police and the community join hands during Church Service

Ahead of its imminent Provincial launch of the Community Policing Strategy on 21 September 2019, the SAPS & Community Police Forum (CPF) together with the MEC of Transport, Safety and Liaison Mrs Nontobeko Vilakazi and Councillor Nontobeko Mkhontwana held a church service on Sunday, 15 September 2019 in De Aar.

Councillor Nontobeko Mkhontwana warmly welcomed everyone followed by the Provincial Community Police Board Chairperson Mr Ephraim Homan with the purpose of the day concisely enlightening the community about the role of the CPF.

As keynote speaker MEC Vilakazi vehemently condemned atrocious femicide and gender-based violence and encouraged community members to jointly work together with the police in quest of a safe and secure environment.

Pastor Nqoro gave a powerful sermon of hope and subsequently prayers of intercession to end women and children abuse as well as xenophobia.

With Captain Phoko as the Programme Director, the event was nothing short of great with brilliant entertainment from the police band and SAPS provincial choir.

The service formed part of build-up programmes towards the launch of Community in Blue Strategy on Saturday 21 September 2019 at the Nonzwakazi Stadium, De Aar as well as embracing community members and religious groups to show the SAPS’s humble & profuse attachment to society and strengthening relations with the community to sustainably prevent and combat crime together.

Vote of thanks was delivered by the Cluster Commander of Pixley ka Seme, Brigadier Nomana Adonis.
