Body found at beach during prayer

Hindus who observed the last day of Navaratri with a special prayer at The Block in Port Shepstone on Tuesday morning this week were astounded when members of the Hibiscus Coast Navaratri Committee found a body on the shore.

Police spokesman, Captain Petros Mpinge confirmed that the body of a 30-year-old man had washed up.

“A post mortem examination will be conducted to determine the cause of death,” said police spokesman, Captain Petros Mpinge, adding that an inquest docket would also be opened for investigation.

After the body was removed the prayer commenced and devotees witnessed the immersing of the beautifully decorated Durga Matha murthi (deity) into the sea.
