Body of drowned 7-year-old boy recovered

Earlier today police divers from Durban SAPS Search and Rescue Unit, Durban Metro Police Search and Rescue Unit along with Durban SAPS K9 Search and Rescue Unit were called out to conduct a dive operation in the Mlaba dam near Hammarsdale.

A group of children were playing in the small dam yesterday to cool off from the hot weather. A 7-year-old boy got into difficulty and drowned. The drowning was only reported today.

K9 Ghost conducted a surface search and indicated an area in dam following which the divers entered the water. The body of the young boy was recovered at a depth of 5 metre. An inquest docket was opened.
