The Commission of Inquiry into taxi violence continues on 04 March 2020

The public hearings of the Commission of Inquiry into Taxi Violence in the Gauteng province will continue on Wednesday,
04 March 2020 at 10:00.

The Commission will hear testimony from the President and Chairman of Gauteng South African National Taxi Council
(SANTACO), Mr Johannes Mkhonza on Wednesday, 04 March 2020, at 10:00.

Mr Mkhonza’s testimony will include, but not be limited:
• Joint Declaration of Gauteng Taxi entered in 2016.
• Resolutions of the taxi Summit held in 2019;
• Role of the Taxi Structure, in particular SANTACO, in curbing conflict, violence, fatalities and instabilities in the
minibus-type service industry within the Gauteng province;
• None/ implementation of Taxi Summit Resolutions; and
• Recommendations on how to curb the current levels of corruption, maladministration and toxic management
practices in the issuance of operating permits and taxi wars that are ravaging the Taxi Industry.

The legal team is in the process of identifying and/or consulting with other witnesses who will appear before the
Commission over the next few weeks.
