Armed suspects brought to book in Bishop Lavis

WESTERN CAPE – Our endeavors to create a safer environment for the people of this province proved successful when two suspects were arrested during two separate interventions in Bishop Lavis yesterday.

Members attached to the Anti-Gang Unit conducted an operation in Bonteheuwel in search of an armed suspect after receiving a tip-off. The 32-year-old suspect was spotted in the area an apprehended in possession of a 9mm pistol and 70 rounds of ammunition.

In an unrelated incident, members of Bishop Lavis Crime Prevention Unit spotted a suspicious male who made an attempt to flee upon the arrival of police in Yellowwood Street Bonteheuwel. The 22-year-old suspect was pursued and arrested in possession of a 9mm pistol and 16 rounds of ammunition.

Both suspects are due to make their court appearances in Bishop Lavis once they have been charged for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
