Robbery Suspects Arrested at Mount Edgecombe, KZN

Three suspects who robbed a pedestrian of her cellphone were arrested by members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) in Mt. Edgecombe on Tuesday.

At approximately 10:15 Reaction Officers were on patrol on Flanders Drive when they were flagged down by a female requesting assistance. She explained that while walking to work she was accosted by three men who robbed her of her Huawei P30 Lite cellphone.

The victim provided RUSA Members with a description of the suspects and pointed them in the direction in which they fled. Officers set out in search of the robbers and spotted them loitering on the corner of Chris Hani Road and Sucrose Crescent. Reaction Officers approached and apprehended all three suspects. They were positively identified by the victim as the men who had robbed her. The woman’s cellphone was not found in their possession and it is believed that they may have thrown it into a dense bush when they noticed Reaction Officers approaching.

One of the suspects was found in possession of Huawei P8 Lite cellphone which was password protected. He did not know the code to unlock the phone. It was suspected that the phone was also stolen in a seperate robbery.

All three suspects were handed over to Police and are currently detained at the Phoenix SAPS.
