WESTERN CAPE – Following a business robbery in Zwelihle, Hermanus on Monday, 24 August 2020, members of the Overberg Anti-Gang Unit executed operation and followed up vital information thereby arresting a 24-year-old suspect in Mount Pleasant. During the arrest, the police recovered an amount of R24 500-00 from the suspect.
It is alleged that on Monday afternoon the suspect entered the spaza shop, threatened the owner with a firearm and took cash.
The amount confiscated is suspected to be the cash taken during the robbery. Ongoing investigations continue to locate the firearm utilised in the commission of the robbery.
The suspect, who is also alleged to have strong ties with gangs in the area will appear in court on Thursday on charges of business robbery with aggravating circumstances.
