Vigilant police members arrest suspect with drugs

Springbok SAPS Public Order Policing unit were conducting vehicle patrols on 18 September 2020 at approximately 03:10 on the N7 near Springbok Weighbridge, when they spotted a suspicious looking taxi. The taxi was stopped and searched and police found two grocery bags under the passenger seat with Mandrax tablets, Mandrax Powder and Tik.

The police confiscated Tik to the value of approximately R230 000 and Mandrax to the value of about R130 000 from the vehicle. Police also confiscated the Taxi and the trailer as it was allegedly utilized in the commission of a crime.

The 42-year-old male driver should be appearing in the Springbok Magistrates Court soon on charges of dealing in drugs. The investigation continues.

The Cluster Commander of Namakwa Cluster, Brigadier Frances Hender commended the members for their commitment and vigilance that led to this superb arrest.
