Police Minister General Bheki Cele will on Saturday 19 September 2020, head to the Western Cape following the murder of a SAPS investigator on Friday.
The Minister will receive a full briefing on the murder of Lt Colonel Charl Kinnear before visiting his family home in Bishop Lavis.
The Lt Colonel who was attached to the province’s Anti-Gang Unit was involved in investigations into several high profile cases resulting in multiple arrests in the criminal underworld.
Minister Cele will also visit the family of another slain police official in Khayelitsha. Sgt Thabile Mapona, who was off duty, was shot and killed in his vehicle on arrival at home after dropping his wife at a local taxi rank on a Thursday morning.
