Public assistance is required to locate Smangele Happiness Shezi also known as Sma.
Shezi went missing on Friday (20/11/2020) after she left a tavern near her residence. Her boyfriend began receiving messages from her phone the following morning stating that his girlfriend had been kidnapped and would be set free if R5000 was paid into a Money Market account. The messages continued over the weekend with the sender threatening to kill Shezi if the money was not paid. All messages were sent in isiZulu.
CCTV shows Shezi consuming alcohol at the tavern before exiting the premises at approximately 19:30. According to her captures she was kidnapped while she was walking home from the tavern.
The kidnappers have used Shezi’s cellphone to call her boyfriend to make demands. He stated that the female could be heard crying in the background during the conversation.
