Copper thieves due in court in Vryheid

An intelligence-driven operation was conducted by various units in the SAPS yesterday at Vryheid East and Bhekuzulu Township.
Police received information about the suspects who were in possession of copper cables. They proceeded to Emadoshini and a search was conducted at an identified house. Copper cables that weighed 99kg were found hidden in the house. The copper cables were positively identified by Transnet as their property.
The estimated street value of the recovered copper cables is R460 000-00. Seven suspects aged between 25 and 58 were placed under arrest for possession of stolen property. The suspects are appearing before the Vryheid Magistrates Court today.
