Two injured in a collision on the R102

Two people were hospitalized after the driver of a Toyota Corolla avoided a Cane Rat on the southbound lane of the R102 between the Verulam and Canelands intersection.

Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) arrived on the scene. Two occupants of a Toyota Corolla sustained moderate injuries and were transported to hospital by ambulance.

According to the driver, he was traveling from Tongaat towards Verulam when he swerved to avoid a Cane Rat that ran across the road. His vehicle knocked into a metal barrier on the left-hand side of the road before it spun out of control and crashed into the barrier separating the north and southbound lanes.

The driver was not injured in the accident.
