MTHATHA: Eastern Cape Senior Management joined hands with SAPS family in honouring a funeral service of one of their committed and dedicated communication officers, Captain Dineo Koena, who passed on recently after a short illness. The funeral service took place on 2 January 2021 at Highbury Extension in Mthatha.
Captain Dineo Koena served as a communication officer for almost whole of her career in the South African Police Service, attached to Mthatha, in the OR Tambo District. She had served the organisation with diligence for the past 25 years of her career.
Provincial Head for Corporate Communication and Liaison, Brigadier Tembinkosi Kinana described Captain Koena as an experienced, committed and dedicated communicator who represented the South African Police Service with diligence and professionalism. He indicated discipline and respect as some of Captain Koena’s attributes, and according to Brigadier Kinana, the Captain served as a reliable ambassador of the department.
“We are really saddened by the untimely passing of our experienced, passionate, committed and dedicated communication officer, who represented the South African Police Service with diligence and professionalism. She had a critical role in ensuring positive corporate image and identity of the department. We had a true and loyal servant and ambassador in her.”- he said.
OR Tambo District Commissioner, Major General David Kanuka, extended a sincere word of condolences, on behalf of the SAPS Family, to Koena Family. He described the departure of Captain Dineo Koena as an unbearable blow to the South African Police Service, especially in the OR Tambo District, as she represented the department well. “We are actually depressed by the departure of this loyal and dedicated member of the service, who pursued her career with passion and professionalism. She has represented the department with professionalism in different environments, and ensured enhanced human and stakeholder relations at all times”- the General indicated.
Major General Kanuka concluded by thanking the Koena family for allowing their daughter to be part of the South African Police Service, and serve different communities in this country, especially OR Tambo District.
