On 20 January 2021 a group of armed suspects entered a house on Ntabeni Road in KwaXimba. They tied up the family members with cable ties and robbed them of flat-screen TV’s, DVD players, amplifiers, PlayStation, cellphones, and clothes before fleeing the scene with the complainant’s vehicle. A case of robbery was opened at Umsunduzi SAPS for further investigation.

Yesterday, the District Task Team followed up on information regarding the suspects involved in the robbery. The team worked around the clock following all possible leads regarding the suspects involved. The team proceeded to KwaDabeka where a 45-year-old wanted suspect was found and was placed under arrest. He was found in possession of a pistol with ammunition. Investigations revealed that the firearm was robbed by a security guard in KwaDabeka. The suspect is appearing before the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court today for illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.

The suspect will now join his co-accused, aged 27, who was arrested on the same day at Klaarwater in Mariannhill. The suspect was found with a vehicle stolen during the house robbery in KwaXimba. The suspect appeared before the Pinetown Magistrates’ Court for possession of a stolen vehicle.
