Card scammer in court

The alertness of Public Order Police officers in Margate led to the arrest of a 42-year-old suspect who is set to appear at the Ramsgate Magistrate’s Court today for possession of stolen property. On 5 February 2021 at 17:00, police officers received information of a suspicious man who is suspected of card scamming at a shopping mall in Margate.

On arrival at the mall, police spotted the suspect and held before approaching the suspect. He was searched and found in possession of 18 different bankcards, identity documents and smart shopping cards. When he was questioned about the cards he failed to provide police officers with a satisfactory explanation and was placed under arrest.

The Acting Provincial Commissioner for KwaZulu-Natal, Major General Thulani Gonya commended the police officers for swiftly arresting the suspect.
