Alleged heroin dealer nabbed at South Coast petrol station

The Hawks’ South African Narcotics Enforcement Bureau arrested a 30-year-old heroin peddler, Trivern Piyarilal on Wednesday at the South Coast filling station.

Members acted on the information of a male who was reportedly a regular in transporting consignments of drugs to the South Coast.

Following observations of the target for days, the team that included Crime Intelligence and Durban Metro police spotted a VW Polo driven by the oblivious Piyarilal. The said vehicle was on Southbound from Chatsworth and it was swiftly pulled over at the Ultra City garage at approximately 18:00.

The resultant search of the vehicle uncovered about 400 heroin capsules.

Piyarilal appeared briefly in the Scottburg Magistrates’ Court today. He has been remanded in custody pending his bail hearing on 26 February 2021.
