The swift reaction of Kuilsrivier police resulted in the arrest of a 33-year-old suspect shortly after a retail grocery store was robbed in Kuilsrivier this morning.
It is reported that four armed men perpetrated a robbery at the store shortly after opening time and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. Police members who reacted to the incident were confronted by a suspect in the parking area who opened fire at them. In their retaliation, the suspect was shot and wounded and taken into custody.
His three accomplices who fled from the scene in a Toyota vehicle, are now being sought by police. This vehicle was later recovered in Mfuleni. The circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated while the suspect is awaiting his court appearance.
