Two vehicles crash through a metal barrier on the R102, Palmview in KZN

Two vehicles were extensively damaged after they crashed through a metal barrier along the north bound lane of the R102 in the vicinity of the Phoenix intersection this morning (Monday).

Passing motorists who witnessed the collision contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) from 07:49 requesting assistance at the scene. On arrival a white Daihatsu Sirion was found lying on its roof. A extensively damaged maroon Datsun Go was also located in the bush.

According to the driver of the white Daihatsu Sirion, she was traveling on the right lane towards Phoenix with her 5 & 2-year-old sons when she noticed the maroon Datsun Go attempting to overtake her on the right.

Witnesses reported that the Datsun Go went off the road when the driver swerved to his left and knocked into the Daihatsu Sirion. Both vehicles crossed two lanes before crashing through the metal barrier on the side of the road. Passing motorists stopped to assist and freed the female and her children from the overturned vehicle.

Both driver’s suffered minor injuries and were transported to hospital by ambulance.
