A vehicle incident near the intersection of Oost and Grobler streets earlier this morning, resulted in the death of a woman.
The incident happened at around 10:20 and involved a bakkie and a sedan.
According to reports the elderly driver of the sedan died on the scene. Another woman, the driver of the bakkie, was slightly injured.
According to Mike Maringa, Media Liaison Officer for the Department of Transport confirmed the incident and added that a light delivery vehicle (LDV) sideswiped a sedan.
“The driver of the sedan died on the scene while the driver of the LDV sustained minor injuries.”
The exact cause of the incident will form part of a police investigation but the contravention of traffic signal (reckless driving) has not been ruled out.
