A 44-year-old man is expected to appear in the Alexandra Magistrates Court facing charges of possession of drugs with an estimated street value of R600 000-00 on Wednesday, 31 March.
Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation based in Germiston received intelligence regarding suspicious drug-related activities at residential premises in Sandton.
The investigation team kept surveillance on the positively identified address and pounced on the suspect allegedly packing drugs. A search warrant was executed and police found 2.4kg of suspected ephedrine and 1.3kg of crystal meth with an estimated street value of R600 000-00 collectively.
Police seized R100 000-00 in cash which was concealed in traveling luggage. Investigation continues and more cannot be ruled out.
