House robbers nabbed with a stolen vehicle in Greytown

It is alleged that on the night of 12 April 2021, three men armed with a firearm and a knife accosted the complainant at his home on Murchison Street in Ladysmith.

At gunpoint, they assaulted him with a firearm butt and robbed him of his cellphone as well as cash before they fled the scene with the complainant’s vehicle. The neighboring stations were immediately contacted to be on the lookout. The vehicle was spotted traveling along the R74 towards Greytown. The Greytown Task Team was activated and they were joined by a security company from Greytown.

The victim’s vehicle was spotted on the R74 in Greytown. The vehicle was intercepted and three suspects aged between 25 and 35 were placed under arrest. The suspects were found in unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition as well as a knife. The men were charged with house robbery, possession of a stolen vehicle, unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, possession of a dangerous weapon, and contravention of the Immigration Act. They appeared before the Ladysmith Magistrates Court on 15 April 2021.
