Police commissioner welcomes the arrest of two suspects and recovery of trailers of cargo to Congo stolen during business robbery in Olifantsfontein

Gauteng Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Elias Mawela has welcomed the arrest of two people who are suspected of being behind the business robbery in Olifantsfotein where Trailors of Cargo to Congo were stolen on 06 June 2021. The two suspects were arrested on 07 June 2021 at Plot 45 found in possession of Flatbed truck loaded with Copperplates to the estimated value of 3 million rands.

Soon after the business robbery was reported to the police, a search operation was launched for suspects which resulted in the arrest of two men in Balmoral Estates, De Deur.

It is alleged that on Sunday 06 June 2021, a business robbery happened in Olifantsfotein where a group of people stole Trailors with the estimated value of 7 million rand.

The tracking company with Armed Defence Reponses followed the information which led to the recovery of six Trailors of Cargo to Congo loaded with Copperplates which was allegedly stolen at Truck Tuck Juction, Clayville and two Trucks from Front liner and RAF truck found abandoned.

The two suspects are expected to appear before the Vereeniging Magistrate Court on Wednesday, 09 June 2021

“This success which comes as a result of a swift and decisive action by police, Tracking Company and Armed Defence Response should send a stern message to criminals that police will come after them. Such acts of lawlessness will not be left unpunished. We will ensure that the perpetrators are caught and get to face the full might of the law,” remarked Lieutenant General Elias Mawela, urging the arresting and investigating teams to ensure sufficient evidence is collected towards building a case that can stand in court.
