Yesterday at 14:00, the Provincial Trio Task Team followed up information regarding the suspects that were involved in the killing of a police officer. On 15 June 2021 at 19:10, Sergeant Siyabonga Radebe (34) was playing snooker at C Section in Umlazi when he was shot by two armed men who also robbed him of his bag.
He was rushed to hospital where he was certified dead on arrival.
The team proceeded to Baker Road at W Section in Umlazi where it was reported that the suspects were busy celebrating the death of a policeman. One of the suspects pointed a firearm at the police officers and he was fatally wounded. The suspects aged between 27 and 38 were placed under arrest for murder. A woman who is a relative was arrested a C Section in Umlazi. The suspects will appear in court next week.
